Everyone has heard of the Lake District, and it is beautiful. Unfortunately it always seems that everyone is there!

The country lanes are jammed with traffic, the carparks are full despite being expensive, and the footpaths are eroded, or paved!

However, the surrounding area, particularly the North Pennines is beautiful but much quieter and if you really must see the Lake District it is an easy day trip ( one day and you will want to be back in the peace of the North Pennines!) We can advise you about a 'tour' round the less busy parts of the Lakes (with a stop at the farm in Buttermere that makes its own ice cream!)

For self catering accommodation, we have 5 cottages ranging from a cosy cottage for two, upto a large farmhouse for 14. Together they sleep up to 34!
